Advice needed...650(50,28)

by aquarius24 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 6:20 pm
Hi there,

I wrote GMAT today and scored 650 , 50 points over earlier attempt(600).
Below are my mocks' scores:
MGMAT-1 23-Sep-13 Q51, V29 - 640
MGMAT-2 19-Oct-13 Q48, V37 - 700
MGMAT-3 04-Nov-13 Q51, V36 - 710
gmat prep 1 07-Nov-13 Q50, V25 - 640
MGMAT-4 09-Nov-13 Q45, V34 - 650
gmat prep 1 13-Nov-13 Q51, V30 - 680
MGMAT-5 18-Nov-13 Q51, V36 - 710
MGMAT-6 21-Nov-13 Q51, V30 - 680

Besides these scores, I score 700 on average in Kaplan tests.

Now some stuff about the real GMAT test:

Slot : 1000 HRS
Center was pretty good with friendly staff and location wise.No noise of any kind, no complaints about the same.

On the test part, I completed AWA with some pretty good points on the plate and then rush to first break after completed IR section, which was little stressful this time.

Though Quant was of good level , the section was easily manageable and I completed it within time. with pretty good score -50

In verbal, starting was god as while proceeding , i was feeling confident and less stressed. As i progressed, I felt difficulty even in understanding questions, though i completed section on time , yet with few guesses.
Now the real problem lies here -28

Back to reality:
As i got 650 now , I have two options either I should apply for Ivy Leagues with this score or I should wait for nest year for deadlines.
This is a point of confusion for me. Also I put my 100% this time, I don't know where I went wrong in verbal and how i should rectify it.
Suggestions from anyone, who can give me guidance, are most welcome.

Thanks

Quick question -- couldn't you re-take and still hit your priority school admissions deadlines this year?!!?

Hi aquarius24,

Brian brings up a good point; if needed, you should be able to retest and still hit most Round 2 deadlines. As an aside, what specific schools are you planning to apply to? A 650/Q50 is a solid combo and puts you "in range" to apply to pretty much every US Business School, so you might not need to retest.
