White male, 5 years experience (varied experience: legal, finance, real estate), non-ivy league school, state school.
As stated before, the gmat is only one element of the application. Great essays and conveying your personal background can overcome weaknesses in your application. This week I was accepted and waitlisted to two top 20 schools (per U.S. News and Business Week current rankings) despite a horrible GPA and relatively low GMAT. I am still waiting to hear back from other schools, but this proves that one does not need to be obsessed with scoring over 700. Each school has an average GMAT hovering between 690 and 700.

I WIN!!!

I applied to 6 schools in total, 2 top 10, 3 top 20, and my back-up (Georgetown). Dinged from the top 10 schools and surprisingly my back-up, but I still have a smile on my face Very Happy
