Anne Bono Chaconas was born and raised in Guatemala, Central America, and attended the American School in Guatemala City, graduating as class salutatorian in 1998. During a year-long hiatus between high school and college she co-founded and managed Wings Academy, a post-secondary preparatory academy focusing on SAT preparation and college admissions counseling, and directed its growth from fledgling 10-person hour-long classes twice a week to 30-student lessons occurring multiple times a day, six days a week. She lead classes teaching the Verbal and Writing sections of the exam, and headed up the admissions counseling programs at the academy, coaching students to acceptances at Harvard, Yale, Emory, Stanford, UCLA, Dartmouth, and Notre Dame, among others.

She left Guatemala in the fall of 1999 to attend Yale University, where she received a B.A. in Literature. During her years at Yale, she continued to counsel Wings Academy students during their college admissions process, and informally continued to tutor high school students in SAT preparation. Upon graduation, she worked for UBS Investment Bank as a broker, leaving the position only when a job with GMAT preparation firm 800score.com was offered to her. She worked for 800score.com as a lead editor and programmer, writing and editing GMAT verbal and math questions, creating question databases, and developing marketing materials.

Shortly after moving to Charleston (SC) in 2007 she became aware of PowerScore, and applied for a position as an SAT instructor with the firm. In short order, because of her vociferous passion for admissions counseling and her continued entreaties to the company to expand their admissions counseling department and programs, she was brought on board full-time as the PowerScore Director of Admissions Counseling, based of company headquarters in Charleston. She has focused her energies on creating, expanding, and improving PowerScore admissions counseling offerings, putting together a team of highly-dedicated, vastly talented individuals whose passion is to help others achieve the level of education they feel is essential to their career aspirations.  She is incredibly proud of the work they do, and what they have been able to help others accomplish in their academic pursuits.
