8 weeks until my test

I just took a practice test yesterday and bombed it with a 460. I was wondering if its realistic to gain roughly 200 more points in 8 weeks. I've done the Powerscore CR Bible, Aristotle SC, and the Manhattan SC books. Granted I didn't know any of the math, I feel like if I focus on that I'll get better? I'm currently in a 9 week Manhattan online class and going through the 5 math manhattan guides. I'd like some advise on whether this is a realistic goal or my hopes are in vain.

I scored in the 400's as well but it was over a month ago and that was the last time I took one. If your score is low then you probably need to work on your fundamentals. My fundamentals are bad and I haven't been able to rephrase the questions properly. Also, it's been years since I have taken a math course and the way the math is tested on the GMAT is very deceptive. I plan to take the test next month or in May. There's no reason for me to take the test if I am not properly prepared.

Do you think the Manhattan class has been helpful? I checked out their syllabus and it seems they cover a lot of material in just 9 weeks (in person class). But I am considering a class or private tutoring. The tutoring might be cheaper because those classes cost over $1,400. Even at $75/hour for a tutor, you can still get 20 hours for $1,500 and usually it's easier to learn in person.The only drawback is finding a good tutor. Smile

I think about rescheduling the test actually in May. I just want to take it before all the changes in June. I think the Manhattan class so far has been helpful because it'll keep be on the right track of what I need to study. I was thinking about getting a tutor, too. Probably a math tutor.

I plan to take it in April or May and am also trying to take it before the changes. I might take the Manhattan GMAT prep class but it depends on how I progress with the tutor. I checked on Craigslist because the rates are more reasonable ($50 to $100 a hour). I wanted to go with a Manhattan GMAT Prep tutor but there tutoring rates are very high. An independent person might charge $100/hour at the most but those prep companies can charge over $200/hour. Good luck with the class!
