620 - What Schools should i apply for ? Post Wed Mar 21, 2012 4:26 pm
I gave the GMAT today and scored 620(Q47,V29). I am disappointed with my score but probably that is what i deserved.

I know that with my score, i will not get a good school but what are my chances of getting a decent B school ? I am an IT professional with 5.5 years of experience.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do some research. Look at schools at sites like this: http://poetsandquants.com/2011/12/08/the-top-100-u-s-mba-programs-of-2011/3/ and check out the middle 80% GMAT range for a realistic view of where you'll get in. Being in the range is more realistic than being below the range.

Some will say never let you GMAT score stop you from applying, but let's face it, the people who get admitted in the bottom 10% of a top school more often than not have something very exceptional about their application that the ADCOM will look the other way on the GMAT score.

Retake my friend! Especially as an Indian candidate, you NEED that GMAT. You will only do this once, so do it right. We know, the GMAT is a pain, but gotta do it.
