ha yes good call i am with HP!
My background is very Non Traditional... I started as contractor in HP mail room at 18 years old almost 12 years ago... I didnt go to college right away as i needed to make money.
After 2 years one manager in HP give me a chance at entry level position and the rest as they say is history. I started going to college full time and working full time graduating Electrical Engineering with 3.7 GPA... Just when i finish school HP send me to Taiwan for 2.5 years to work... I study mandarian while there and become decent in speaking chinese. Now i am back to Houston working as Platform manager.
In eassy i just tell the story of my dream of mail room to board room etc... The admission commitee were touched by my determination and struggle... In addition they over looked my GMAT as test anxiety due to my high GPA.. Overall my essasy i felt were very strong cause they were heart felt.. I had to struggle alot to get where i am at and i put that in the essays... Also i think the international experince really help me alot as well.
My best advice is tell your story everyone has a unique path in life its these stories that intrest the Adcom. Make your essay read like a book that someone can not put down and you will have a good shot to get in..

Hey HPEngineer,
Interesting story. Congrats on your admit. Welcome to BU! From what I know, most of my classmates have good GMAT scores. Hence, it must be especially gratifying.
I just casually logged in to BTG after a while.
To those asking for his essay, it is not going to help you much to see his essays. Each person's story and admission is different. It will only inhibit your creativity as you will try to base your essays on his because you see it as a successful admit.

Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert.
