Hello,
I just came back from Vienna where I took the GMAT for the second time... was hoping to get 680 at least but unfortunatly it was 640 . It just seems impossible to get a higher score as I thing that reading comprehension seems to be my main issue. If I get articles about medicine or biology, I ace them, but if it is something philosophical or sociol. as it was this time, then... well...
I guess I should not even try applying to Columbia? It was my first choice because Id like to go into finance, plus it offers the New York experience.
What about NYU with this score? That is the second choice and Baruch (Zicklin school of business) is the third one...
thank you

Hi Alexander,
There are other considerations beyond GMAT in the admissions process. If you have a great GPA, stellar work experience, and are able to communicate well in the essays about your goals and need for an MBA, you could potentially overcome a less than perfect GMAT score.
See Stacy's post about the general GPA and GMAT guidelines for top schools to get some idea of the ballpark.
Good luck!
